Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know
It’s natural to have lots of questions when you’re considering sending your child to camp for the first time. To help make the process as easy as possible, we’ve provided a list of some of the most common questions we receive below.
What kind of equipment does my child need to participate?
Roller hockey does not require as much equipment as ice hockey, but still does require safety equipment that is different from other sports. See additional information for suggested websites to purchase equipment.
Your player will need:
Helmet with a facemask/cage
Inline skates/ rollerblades (remove the brake)
Hockey gloves
Hockey stick
Hockey elbow pads
Hockey shin pads (usually have a knee cover)
*Need help with equipment? Please email us so we can help you size, purchase or coordinate borrowing equipment. We don’t want a lack of equipment stopping your player from playing with us!
How much is it going to cost?
Registration fee is $45 annually, season registration ranges based on the length of the season ranging from $65 to $95. If you have not registered for a season, it is $20 for each drop-in session, after you’ve paid the registration fee.
My child hasn’t skated before, can they still play?
Currently, we do not have the resources to teach players to skate. If your player knows the fundamentals of skating, like how to balance and navigate around a rink, we can help them improve. In town, SkateWorld offers skating lessons Saturday mornings for new skaters. For more information on these lessons visit their lessons page.
How can my skater get more skate time?
Rollerblades with outdoor wheels can be used on sidewalks, and in driveways. Inline skates with indoor wheels should be used indoors only, inside your garage, or an indoor skating rink such as SkateWorld.
*Register your player at www.kidsskatefree.com for 2 free weekly passes to SkateWorld. Free to register!
Where and when do you play?
We play on Sunday afternoons (2-4 pm) in Cartee Gym at Maclay school located at 3737 N Meridian Road. To access the school, families should enter through the Maclay Road gate.
Can girls and boys play?
Absolutely! Groups will be separated based upon skill levels.
Will we play other teams?
In the future, we have the potential to play other local teams. Currently, we want to grow the program in Tallahassee before we expand.
